I’m currently on a South America cruise, ported at Montevideo, Uruguay to be specific. I was thinking this morning how I’ve seen other travel bloggers post these types of lists and thought I would follow the trend.
1. My favorite travel movie is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
2. My favorite place in the world is Africa. I’ve been eight times and visited 24 countries.
3. I despise both poaching and hunting. You can’t convince me otherwise, even with the conservation argument.
4. My favorite music artist is Garth Brooks. I listen to lots of music; country, rap, alternative, opera, etc.. but Garth is number one.
5. I’m a history fanatic. If I could choose one time period to visit, it would be during the U.S. Civil War. I’d be fascinated to see Gettysburg or Antietam in person.
6. I really want to visit the North Pantanal in Brazil so I can shoot jaguars. It’s at the top of my bucket list for 2023.
7. I was in Uyuni, Bolivia the day every country in South America locked down for Covid. I was lucky enough to get a flight back to La Paz but I was stuck in Bolivia for 6 weeks.
8. I’m pretty amazing in the kitchen. I make fantastic chili and a lot of other good stuff.
9. When I was a kid, I met Cindy Crawford and had my photo taken with her. Digital cameras didnt exist then and the person taking the photo screwed it up.
10. Christmas is the only holiday I like. In fact, I love Christmas. Christmas lights, Christmas trees, fireplaces, Christmas movies, Christmas relationships, etc..I love it all.
11. My favorite food is rib eye and garlic mashed potatoes.
12. While traveling, I hate hearing entitled people complain that the place they are visiting is not like the U.S. The fact is, the majority of the world is not like the U.S., Canada, Germany, or the U.K.
13. The hottest I’ve ever been was in Kuwait, when the temperature was 132 degrees fahrenheit.
14. The coldest I’ve ever been was in Madison, Wisconsin when the temperature was -35 degrees fahrenheit with the wind chill.
15. I’ve been to 91 countries and all 50 states in the U.S. I’ve also been to Washington D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico.
16. My second favorite travel movie is The Way.
17. I spent 4.5 years in the Marine Corps; I’m always 15 minutes early for everything.
18. I firmly believe that all the leftists who smugly told everyone to “stay home and wear a mask” should follow their own advice. As long as Covid exists, they should be home with a mask on, while everyone else travels.
19. My favorite travel book is “A Walk in the Woods.”
20. My favorite drink is still an old fashioned, but these days I drink vodka (Reyka) more often.
