There’s a unique thrill that comes with taking to the skies, and for me, no aircraft embodies that feeling more than these few listed below. Whether it’s the roar of the engines, the high service levels, or the sheer beauty of its design, flying on these aircraft is an experience unlike any other.
From my very first flight to the UK to countless hours spent in the air, these are machine that captured my heart and defined my love for travel. In this post, I’ll share why these aircraft are my favorite.
Buckle up, this going to be a flight worth remembering!
A350-900
The A350-900 is the foundation of the Airbus 350 family of large twin engine jets. There is now an A350-1000; it was built to compete against the 787-10, 777, and the 777x.
The main customer is Qatar Airlines, which puts these to great use. The business class is beautiful and the service is impeccable. Personally, I find it to be superior to Singapore Airlines and Emirates.
The A350 is extremely fuel efficient and the A350-1000 can fly 8700 miles. The overhead storage in business class are very large and hold full sized roller bags.
Really a fun aircraft to fly.
Boeing 777-300
The 777 is the most ordered and delivered wide body aircraft in existence, with the 777-300ER being the most popular. The 777 can be easily distinguished by its large engines and 6 wheel landing gear.
The two best types of business class suites are located on 777’s; Qatar’s Q-Suites and ANA’s The Room. I’m not a fan of American Airlines but the only true U.S. first class cabin is located on American’s 777 aircraft.
Boeing 787 Dreamliner
The 787 aircraft has several major differences when it comes to the interior of an airplane. The first is that Boeing removed the plastic window shades and utilizes electro-chromic windows.
The windows can be controlled to adjust five levels of visibility. Electrical compressors allow air to be cooled before it enters the cabin area.
Humidity can be controlled to 15% instead of the common 4%.
A380
There’s something truly magical about flying the Airbus A380. As the largest passenger aircraft in the world, it’s a marvel of modern engineering, yet it offers a level of grace and control that’s surprising for its size. From the immense power of its engines to the quiet elegance of its flight, every moment in the cockpit (or even the cabin) feels monumental. For me, the A380 is more than just a plane—it’s a symbol of innovation and a testament to what aviation can achieve.
A340
While the A340-600 and the A340-500 have been replaced by the A350, this aircraft was long the workhorse of Lufthansa and other airlines. Simply, my favorite aspect of this airplane are the four high thrust turbo fans. If you ever flew on one and felt the power at take off, you’ll know what I mean.
